Pondamos, the only sandy beach on the island of Halki, is a 10 minute walk from Emborio, up the concrete road, over the ridge into the next bay. It has a taverna, a cantina, and sunbeds with umbrellas for hire
Ftenagia Beach
The pebbly beach of Ftenagia is just beyond the rocky coves around the bay of Emborio, about 15 minutes walk. It is accessible by the rocky path above the shore, or from the high road to the windmills. There is a taverna, with some sunbeds and umbrellas available.
Yiali (Gialli) Beach
On the south side of the island of Halki, down a winding track from the village at Chorio, can be found the tiny beach of large. white pebbles known as Yiali. There are no refreshments here though the cliffs can provide some shade. Sea currents here can be very strong so swim with caution.
Kania Beach
About 25 minutes walk North of Emborio, near the fish farm, you will find Kania's beach of pebbles with crystal clear waters.
Days out from Halki
Hire a small boat or walk to one of the sandy or pebbly beaches of the island for a swim. A day trip to Alimia, which is a lovely deserted island, rewards you with excellent beaches and it is not far from Halki. A day trip to Rhodes by the 6.00 a.m. ferry, is an option not to miss. It may also be reached by private yacht or water-taxi.
Areta beach and Trachia Beach
Two of the more deserted beautiful, beaches on the island of Halki. Not to be missed for their crystal clear waters - a snorkellers paradise.
